I am a qualified counsellor working with a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties including depression and anxiety disorders. I divide my time between private practice and corporate work, and previously worked in the education sector as Counselling Lead in a secondary school.
At the heart of my work is the belief that each of us has an innate capacity for growth and change. Sometimes, however, life events, loss, stress or unexpected transitions can leave us feeling unsettled or disconnected from who we are. When this happens, our sense of self can feel fragmented — like a jigsaw puzzle whose pieces no longer seem to fit.
My approach is rooted in Person-Centred Counselling. I offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and be truly heard. My goal is to understand your experience from your perspective, walking alongside you rather than directing you. Feeling accepted and understood can be deeply restorative and is often the beginning of meaningful change.
Alongside this relational foundation, I integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) where helpful. This may involve exploring patterns in your thoughts or behaviours and finding practical ways to respond differently when you feel stuck. Any tools or strategies we use are introduced collaboratively and at your pace.
Together, we can begin to make sense of the pieces that feel out of place, creating space for greater clarity, self-understanding and confidence — so that you feel more at ease in yourself and better able to navigate life’s challenges.
Training, qualifications and experience
I am experienced, having worked with adults and young people (14–17) across a wide range of presenting issues and in a variety of settings.
I prefer to work face to face, though I work regularly online via Zoom. I aim to be flexible in meeting the needs of my clients and, where appropriate, have offered walking therapy and even text-based support when circumstances required it.
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), Reg. No. 392913. In addition to my core training in Person-Centred Counselling, I have completed a year of formal training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which informs the integrative way I now work.
I have also undertaken specialist training in the areas of:
- Sexual Harm/Violence
- Bereavement
- Children & Young People
As part of my commitment to ethical and effective practice, I engage in ongoing professional development and continue to deepen my knowledge and skills through further training.
